World Music Day

This year we celebrated music day with classical music. We focused on Gustav Holst’s ‘Mars – Bringer of War’ from his suite named ‘Planets’.

The children moved around the school to spend time with every teacher and experience the music in different ways.

The children were able to explore science, art, history, dance, and PSHE alongside the musical elements of the day.

Throughout the morning the children:

Made volcanoes.

Explored textures in collages.

Learnt about the significant people and events in history.

Moved their bodies to changes in music.

Played a variety of instruments.

Learnt about instruments in an orchestra, the families they are in, and how they are played.

Used emotions to change their voices when singing, recognising tempo, dynamics and pitch.
